Athens, Greece, December 4, 2023. SouthBridge Europe Mezzanine II SICAR announces agreement to investment in Surprice Group of Companies, to support its international expansion strategy.

Surprice Group (https://surpricecars.com/) is engaged in the short-term car rental business through a worldwide franchise network, the management and operation of which is supported by an internally developed IT platform connecting the network to global online travel intermediaries.

The Group has developed an extensive network numbering over 40 franchisees with presence in 32 countries (21 in Europe, 4 in Asia, 4 in Africa and 3 in the Americas), in over 150 locations, operating a total fleet of over 8,000 cars. In addition, the Group operates directly 3 rent-a-car (RaC) stations in Greece located in Athens, Heraklion and Chania as part of Surprice’s franchise network.

Surprice Group has partnerships with some of the most globally acknowledged OTAs such as Booking (RentalCars.com), Expedia, Cartrawler and DoyouSpain.

Deloitte acted as financial advisor to Surprice for the transaction.

Matrix Pack (https://www.matrixpack.gr) was founded in 2009 in Greece and is one of the largest European producers of drinking straws and other disposable products. The company operates state-of-the-art production facilities in Greece and Bulgaria and a sales network covering more than 50 countries worldwide. Exports account for c. 75% of 2021 revenue. Matrix Pack’s core product category is paper drinking straws, a new, innovative and sustainable solution that has become the dominant alternative to plastic straws due to either legislative or consumer trend changes. Having entered the paper drinking straw market at its infant stage, Matrix Pack strategically chose to invest in R&D of production processes and is now one of the pioneers on a global scale in terms of know-how in paper straw manufacturing.
